Luke’s Love Boat 2022 smash £1000 barrier!

22nd out of 22 teams. Losers???!!! No way!

No training. Some couldn’t swim. Some couldn’t walk straight let alone row straight from days of Jubilee celebrations!

But not only did they improve with every race to break the 1:30 (that’s mins and secs!) barrier in their last race, but they lived up to their billing as ‘probably the worst crew ever but definitely the best pre-school ever’ as they proved they may never be in the GB rowing team but like the children at pre-school they showed resilience, fortitude, obstinacy, an ability to follow directions (if not intently focused on own choice of activity, having been volunteered by loved-ones) and earned the t-shirts and had fun!

And for giving their time and effort, they have raised over £1000 and still counting!

We are looking to buy a defibrillator for pre-school and all who use the church (congregation, Cubs …).

The remainder of the money will be used to further enhance the education and care of the children with toys and other resources.

Thank you to everyone who paddled/rowed (voluntarily or not), bought and sold raffle tickets and to all of you for your continued support.

Next race in 2024, when a shot or two from the defibrillator for each crew member before each race, will ensure at least a top 3 finish!
