May 2019 Newsletter

7th June 2019

IMG_1799IMG_1662IMG_1867DEAR PARENTS,  £450 & rising! A huge thank you to everyone for sponsoring the children to complete 10 laps of the obstacle course. It’s not too late to bring in any money pledged. All the money will go towards the purchase of screens & new play equipment. All that exercise will stand the children in good stead for our forthcoming annual sports day. Where do they get their energy from?
Maria

WHAT WE DID LAST MONTH – We crawled, slid, climbed, ran & more, 10x around an obstacle course! We’ve been frogs & trees as we learnt some yoga positions & talked about how we can keep healthy. We defied gravity (Rosie and Mr Ralph were brave guinea pigs) & made a Coke geyser. We  stopped, dropped & rolled at the fire station, learned about traffic lights, held a snail … & so much more.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY – on our website www.stlukespre-school.co.uk  the ‘Calendar’ feature is now activated; it has the ‘Dates for your diary’ & if you click on the event date, all the details (when, where & what) about the event.
Tues 11th June – Sports Day – no lunch club
Wed 19th June – last day to return Leavers Teddy orders
Thurs 11th July – outing to Kent Life
Thurs 18th July – Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Graduation and end of term

SPORTS DAY – Holcombe Hockey Club – just up the road by Rochester Airport & BAE Systems, ME1 2XQ for your SatNav – have kindly agreed to host our sports day on Pitch One which is the pitch right in front of the clubhouse. Please arrive by 9.30 for a 9.45 start. Finish time 11.15ish when the children will go home with their parents/carers. Only flat-soled shoes are allowed to be worn on the pitch: no high heels/stilettos allowed. The bar will be open for parents/carers to purchase tea/coffee if they wish. The event is open to all am children, even if they do not usually attend on a Tuesday. PM children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent/carer: there will a toddlers race for them as well as races for the adults.

READY FOR BIG SCHOOL – There are plenty of tips and guides for parents on helping your child start primary school for eg @
www.pacey.org.uk/Pacey/media/Website-files/school%20ready/PACEY_preparingforschool_guide.pdf
& whilst you can help their transition from pre-school to primary school by encouraging them to wash their hands, button & zip up their clothing, please always remember, every child is different & starts school with different abilities.

WANTED PLEASE – old crockery (cups, saucers/small plates & teapots) for children to use at snack time & costume jewellery for dress-up.

WELCOME TO  – Mrs Claire Fuller. She will be joining us a new member of staff. We sympathise with and congratulate her.

LUNCHBOX & DRINKS RULES- No nuts! This is an allergy issue. We don’t want to have to call an ambulance. This includes Nutella, nakd bars, etc. And please can you only put water (healthy & cheap choice for quenching your child’s thirst & no calories & no sugars that can damage teeth) in your child’s drink bottle & not squash: no calories, sugars etc because like bees to honey, it only attracts other children to drink from your child’s bottle with the consequent tears, spread of germs etc. A reminder also to please write your child’s name on their drink bottle.

HANDRAILS – Please do not allow your child to climb the yellow disabiIity handrails, whilst waiting to enter the pre-school or upon exiting the pre-school. There is only concrete to fall on!
