April 2019 Newsletter
29th April 2019DEAR PARENTS, I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine & I look forward to welcoming back the pm children tomorrow & the remainder on Wednesday, for another extremely busy term ahead. A big well done & thank you to everyone who entered the Easter bonnet competition: the entries were very creative, making the work of the judges more difficult than expected. And a big well done & thank you to Michelle & her helpers & everyone who supported (by buying raffle tickets, teas etc) at the Easter Play. Below you will find the dates of upcoming events, shopping tips & lots more. Lastly, the plumbing work (new heating & boiler) has all been done. Whoo-hoo!
Maria
WHAT WE DID LAST MONTH
We honed our listening skills by listening to different types of music and developed our writing skills by drawing large & small circles & vertical & horizontal lines. We developed are mathematical skills by having fun with shapes in play foam & measuring in the garden with our measuring tubes. We heard the story of ‘Messy Martin’ & designed our own messy t-shirts. We brought a tear or two to our mummies’ eyes with our Mother’s Day gifts & made our parents laugh & cry at our ‘Easter Play’ – where we put Grumpy Grandad in the longboat and sent him over, were naughty pirates jumping on the plank and mermaids escaping from Jaws – & (as always) we had lots & lots of fun!
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY – on our website www.stlukespre-school.co.uk the ‘Calendar’ feature is now activated; it has the ‘Dates for your diary’ & if you click on the event date, all the details (when, where & what) about the event.

Children should come in to pre-school by the usual time of 9:15. We will depart from pre-school at 9:30 sharp. We will be walking to and from the station. Any parents/carers wishing to meet at the fire station, please advise a member of staff beforehand
WANTED – old crockery (cups, saucers/small plates & teapots) for children to use at snack time.
THE PARENT ROTA – dates for parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles or carers to enjoy some quality time with their child at pre-school & see who & what he or she plays with. If you can’t remember your day to come in or want to come in again, please ask a member of staff.
LUNCHBOX & DRINKS RULES- No nuts! This is an allergy issue. We don’t want to have to call an ambulance. This includes Nutella, nakd bars, etc. And please can you only put water (healthy & cheap choice for quenching your child’s thirst & no calories & no sugars that can damage teeth) in your child’s drink bottle and not squash: no calories, sugars etc because like bees to honey, it only attracts other children to drink from your child’s bottle with the consequent tears, spread of germs etc.
